ViJPT: JPT Japanese Test Practice

Free practice for the JPT Japanese Proficiency Test: 15 mock tests of 200 questions, about 8,800 study cards and a 10–990 score estimate

A free web app for the JPT Japanese Proficiency Test, run by the JPT Executive Committee (日本語能力試験JPT実施委員会). It has 15 mock tests in the same structure as the real test: Listening 100 questions (I photo description, II question and response, III conversations, IV explanations) and Reading 100 questions (V choosing the correct answer, VI error correction, VII fill in the blank, VIII reading comprehension), 200 questions in total, about 45 minutes of listening plus 50 minutes of reading. It estimates a score on the official 10–990 scale (listening 5–495 plus reading 5–495) with an IRT approach, shows the result for each part, and gives the probability of reaching each station: 315, 375, 430, 525 and 660. Audio uses natural Japanese voices: it plays once in exam mode, while practice mode lets you replay, change the speed from 0.8 to 1.2 times, read transcripts and see explanations in Vietnamese and English. About 8,800 study cards by score band (vocabulary, keigo, grammar) are reviewed with spaced repetition. A daily stamp, missions, a weekly leaderboard, and saving and resuming a test midway are included, plus a guide on who needs the JPT, how to register, the test dates (12 sessions a year) and what the scores mean.

Questions and cards are written by ViMai to follow the official structure for practice. They are not real exam questions, and the app is not endorsed by the JPT Executive Committee (日本語能力試験JPT実施委員会 / 日本語能力試験JPT事務局). Scores in the app are estimates for practice. A JPT score of 525 is roughly CEFR B2 and can be used as proof of Japanese B2 for the Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Services work visa, but requirements can change, so always check official sources before you apply.
